Given Facebook Home‘s limited roll-out of the app on the Google Play Store, it was only a matter of time before an unofficial port of the app surfaced. In fact, it took less than a day after the app was released for an unofficial version of Facebook Home that bypasses the device check code in the app, hence allowing for the app to be installed on virtually any Android device.

MoDaCo founder Paul O’Brien came up with this workaround, and has uploaded two variants of the Home app: one for officially supported devices in unsupported countries, and another for unsupported devices. Both apk files does not require the rooting of the Android device, but only to allow the installation of apps from unknown sources under the Security submenu in Settings. However, devices that come pre-installed with Facebook would require root access to uninstall and completely remove the app.

At the moment, the devices that are officially supported for Facebook Home are the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy SIII and Samsung Galaxy Note II. Find out more about how to install the Facebook Home app – as well as the download links themselves – from the source link below.
