Apple Confirms Acquisition of PrimeSense, a 3D Sensor Producer from Israel - pakdin.my

It looks like Apple has finally decided to admit that they have acquired PrimeSense, a startup company from Israel that produces 3D sensors. Apple was first rumored to be interested in the company back in July and again over the weekend, but a spokesperson from the Cupertino company finally admitted to AllThingsD that they have indeed acquired the company for an unstated amount of money though, AllThingsD believes that the value is USD$360 million.

PrimeSense is known for producing the 3D sensor technology used in Microsoft Kinect in its early days, that allow users to interact with the game without having to touch the controller (Microsoft Kinect now uses its own homegrown sensor technology). The company has since then expanded its product line to produce smaller sensors, one of which seems perfect to be used for mobile device, the Capri model.

While the company did not mention what they plan to do with their new purchase, it is believed that they could be adding some 3D technology to its iPhone, if not for its television set or even an Apple branded smartwatch.
