KUALA KUBU BHARU – The level of water at Sungai Selangor Reservoir still does not show any changes despite of heavy rains which was reported to have spread across the area of the reservoir a few days ago.
Mynewshub.my‘s follow-up observation at the reservoir yesterday evening clearly showed intense situation as the water level is still yet to increase.
The worse part is that through rough eyes, the water capacity at the reservoir seemed to have decreased.
A few locations at the reservoir also seemed to be getting drier and clearly different than how it was last week.
From there, we had taken a few latest pictures for our readers to compare the differences.

Last Tuesday, Mynewshub.my reported the water capacity of the Sungai Selangor Reservoir after decreasing up to 52 percent.
Even the four rivers, Sungai Selangor, Sungai Gerachi, Sungai Luit and Sungai Chilling which becomes the source of the reservoir are beginning to dry up.
The observation yesterday also showed that river streams still do not show any changes and it is still show.
A few experts predicted that Klang Valley would be hit with water crisis by year 2014.
Commitment from the Federal Government in pursuing plans such as the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant Project (Langat 2) to overcome the water crisis in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Despite that, the plan from Federal Government did not receive any good cooperation from Selangor State Government.
Experts’ report is expecting water supply for three of the areas would be critical by year 2015 and 2016 and it might lead to state of emergency if the plant is not built as soon as possible.
If the situation goes on, water crisis which hit us in 1997 is expect to repeat itself.
The decreasing level of water capacity was confirmed by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim himself as he plans to implement the method of could seeding in the near future.
The situation in huge amount of decreasing raw water at the reservoir is a huge slap at Khalid’s face as back then he kept on telling the media that the reservoir at the state is full.
So, does the shortage is showing us a sign that the current increase in water demand can no longer be provided by the reservoir?
Selangor has been getting such huge development in terms of population and even economy. The amount of raw water would also need to increase to cater to such development/
Long droughts followed by heavy rain still cannot bring the Sungai Selangor Reservoir back to normal.
We need to remember that Sungai Selangor provides water to 60% of rakyat Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and around the Klang Valley.
Where can Selangor find its source of water considering that the idea of transferring water from Pahang had been rejected by the State Government?
And the last watershed has already been developed for Skim Sungai Selangor.
The question here is, could the supply of treated water last for a long term if the source of raw water itself is not enough such as what is happening at Sungai Selangor Reservoir as we speak? – Mynewshub.my
