We’ve only just gotten used to 4G but South Korea is already carrying out tests on a next-generation 5G service.
Set to roll out by 2020, South Korea’s science ministry is reportedly investing 1.6 trillion won into the superfast mobile internet technology.
According to reports 5G allows users to download 800MB movies in one second, something which takes around 40 seconds using 4G.
A spokesperson from the science ministry, said now is “the time to take pre-emptive action to develop 5G”.
Trials are believed to begin as early as next year, with thorough testing taking place during the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
