Members of the press have been camped out since early morning at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) state headquarters amid speculation that a former finance minister will be giving his statement today (July 10).
About 30 reporters and photographers were seen on standby outside the MACC building waiting for the latest development.
It has been learnt that the former finance minister, who was the Penang chief minister at the time the project was initiated, is expected to present himself at MACC over the controversial RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel project.
This is not the first time that members of the press have congregated outside the state graft-busting agency headquarters in the last few days.
On Tuesday (July 7), Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow spent more than four hours being interviewed at the state MACC headquarters.
He even had to skip his event at Hameediyah Restaurant that was scheduled to start at 11am on that day.
On Monday (July 6), three state executive councillors had their statements recorded by the MACC over the Penang undersea tunnel project.
They were state Housing, Town, Country Planning and Local Government Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo; Women, Family Development and Gender Inclusiveness Committee chairman Chong Eng; and Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh. – Malaysia-Today.net
