It was obvious that the opposition was plain jealous when Saudi Arabia’s famous Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dr Abdullah Hamad Jalaly, Mufti of Mecca’s Masjidil Haram Sheikh Dr Sulaiman Al Salumi and Mecca’s Chief Justice Dr Saleh Darwish visited the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib at a hotel in Mecca for his visit to lead Malaysian delegation on the Extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Perhaps feeling insecure by seeing Datuk Seri Najib chatting away with those scholars. the opposition began to create stories to mock him. To ‘safe the face’ of Nasharudin Mat Isa, PAS’s MP for Bachok which was there with Datuk Seri Najib, the opposition mentioned that he was PM’s ‘translator’ because he do not know how to converse in Arabic.
If the opposition do care about current updates, they should know that Arab scholars including Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Hamad Jalaly just finished their visit to Malaysia for the invitation which was given to them for the Fiqh bersama Ulama Program which was held in July. During the event, no PAS scholars were needed to become the translator between Datuk Seri Najib and them because most of the scholars do know how to converse in English. Even if translators are needed, there are a lot of translators among UMNO scholars and from the religios department.
Besides that, do not be shocked by the fact that a few Arab scholars do know how to communicate in Bahasa Melayu. Those who have been to Mecca should know the fact that quite a number of Arabs do know how to speak in Bahasa Melayu because of the increasing amount of pilgrims from Malaysia each year.
Arab scholars also are usually able to speak more than one language. Scholars from Egypt for example could speak French because it is their second language.
That is why we should not look down upon Arab Scholars as low as PAS’s scholars.
The opposition should at least be embarrassed for making fun of the Prime Minister and those Arab scholars. Do realize that PM could speak in English, unlike Nik Aziz nor Hadi Awang who wishes to rule Malaysia, but not just that they do not know how to converse in English, they might not even know how to speak Arabic. This is because Nik Aziz did not study religion in any Arab countries, it was in India and Hadi Awang was in Pakistan. Obviously their grasp on Arabic language is not as strong as scholars who graduated from Arab countries.
What is worse is that Nik Aziz and Hadi Awang could not even speak proper Bahasa Melayu. They are only good with speaking their own dialect.
If they are not even able to speak proper national language and even the global language, how can they rule the country? And if they cannot even speak proper Arabic, how can they lead Muslims to global level?
Thus, the opposition do not need to mock anyone. They need to look at their line of leaders first. They do not have to be all jittery seeing PM with Arab scholars. In this holy Ramadan, they should see themselves in the mirror and try to redeem themselves.
We should be proud for our PM for being in Mecca because he would definitely pray for the best of us all. We know that Datuk Seri Najib is not as evil-minded as Nik Aziz who had the heart to pray that Muslim brothers’ stomach would blow up just because he wants to win the election.
