Muhammad Muhd Taib goes on the campaign trail in Selangor, calling Malays to vote for DAP, PKR and the party he just joined, PAS, saying the parties possessed capable leaders that were able to manage the country.
He said give the young leaders in the opposition pact a chance and the government agencies would be in good hands, naming two of the few who were DAP’s Tony Pua and PKR’s Rafizi Ramli.
Muhammad or popularly known as Mike Tyson when he was the Mentri Besar of Selangor turned ‘religious’ after losing the deputy president post in Umno in 2009 and following that he went into ‘hibernation’.
He despised PAS and PKR, in fact hated PKR de facto chief Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly conspired his downfall when he was caught bringing in RM1 million to Australia.
He ‘sulked’ and distanced himself from the mainstream of Umno since then, preferring to keep himself low profile for reasons only known to him while still heads the Kelana Jaya Umno division.
But now he changed, alleging Umno through its control of the mainstream media had planted the false among Malays that DAP as a threat to the Malays position as the dominant race.
Now he does a 380 degrees turn and said Umno and BN are ‘bad’ and PAS has shown him the ‘light’ or ‘cahaya’ and started talking about ‘tudung’ or headscarves for Muslim women and things Islamic.
It is good that he has changed to being religious and faithful which every Muslim wants to be but condemning other Muslims have somewhat made him lose his credibility as a faithful.
Islam does not teach its followers to condemn others for any reason whatsoever and Islam does not want its followers to look down on others regardless of race and religion.
Mike Tyson has, in his excitement and in high spirit like ‘marrying a new wife’ has began throwing insults to Umno and BN, like insulting the old wife after getting the new wife.
In this case, he sees PAS and the opposition pact as a new wife, beautiful in and out, without realizing that he is being made use of by the parties and the leaders who once loved to see him in jail.
And he, being blinded by the beauty of the new wife, is now sacrificing his good name and good image by joining the opposition to throw insults at the very organization or political party that has made him wealthy and comfortable from just a school teacher.
And he forgets the old saying of ‘what goes around comes around’ as one fine day someone will do the same to him…and that someone is probably from the new party he has joined.
