The Klang DAP division has called for a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities in the procurement of services and products for the RM1mil Karnival Terima Kasih Rakyat in Kuala Selangor in March.
The division’s parliamentary liaison committee chairman Ivan Ho said this was necessary as a DAP state executive councillor has been implicated.
“We want an open and transparent inquiry so that the good name of the party is not smeared,” he said yesterday.
Ho added that the Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Trans-parency (Selcat) should also initiate a hearing into the issue as it was a state problem.
Meanwhile, a sacked DAP member has lodged a report about the alleged irregularities.
Vellasamy Rasu @ Raman, who was sacked as the Pantai Sepang DAP branch chairman, said an internal investigation by the Selangor Treasury had found various irregularities in the procurement of goods and services provided by 15 suppliers.
An online portal reported that the Treasury found no quotations and procurement approvals for products and services, suppliers who had not registered with both the state and federal treasury, as well as suppliers who rendered services and products outside their normal job scope.
