KOTA KINABALU: Police have ruled out the Kota Kinabalu ‘shooting spree’ was in any way linked to Sulu armed group or the ongoing Lahad Datu intrusion trial.
The shooting at more than 20 establishments including hotels and banks between midnight and 1am Saturday was the work of at least six people in three cars using airguns and marbles as bullets, said Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Jauteh Jikun.
“We are investigating on some leads,’’ he said.
Jauteh said that police believed air-guns were used because if it were catapults, it would not have been able to break the glass doors and window panes of the establishments.
“I urge the public not to panic.
“This is the work of budak nakal (juveniles),’’ he told a press conference at 1pm.
He said anyone with information on the incident should immediately contact police at its Hotline 088221191.
